Revamping Restaurant Motto Rüdigergasse

Besides providing the relevant functional requirements of a professional hotspot, a tension-filled and unique architectural character was to be created for which BEHF developed the theme „The Thrill of Beauty.“

The Assignment

BEHF was given the task to – not more and not less – create a sparkling new makeover for the Motto that would continue its many years of leadership as a hot spot in town. The relationship to its history and the legacy of its glorious proprietors were not to be lost in the process.

The layout and furniture were to be daring and purposeful while still cozy and not too sophisticated. Besides providing the relevant functional requirements of a professional hotspot, a tension-filled and unique architectural character was to be created for which BEHF developed the theme „The Thrill of Beauty.“

The Concept

The architectural perception is based on many facets, sensitive shades of colours, ingenious details and superior materials. They create personal charm and a unique atmosphere. They reveal architectural culture under sparkling and glittering, shiny layers.

More than 400 small plaster puppets cavort on the vaulted ceiling, they expand the crowd and the Motto’s cheerful, cozy atmosphere of togetherness up into a violet sky.

The Motto was made more spacious and open while taking every aspect of sensitivity and individual culture into account. The layout is straight and consistent. It creates clear lines, clarity and order in the division and arrangement.

The tables can be moved together or separated to set the scene for all forms of conviviality and get-togethers in the Motto. The purple upholstery is quilted and covered with clear, transparent plastic film that reflects the evening light.

The boldly colored armchairs and turned table legs round off the composition. Tabletops made of mirrors with polished edges let meals appear to their full advantage.
