Henri AchtenHenri Achten studied architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology, and graduated in 1992 on the design of a museum of history. This project was the first MSc. Project in the Netherlands utilizing Virtual Reality technology for the development and presentation of a design. Henri Achten continued as PhD.-researcher on the theme of knowledge encoding in graphic representations by architects. This research was performed under supervision of Prof. Thijs Bax and Prof. Robert Oxman. It was completed and successfully defended in 1997. During that period, he was engaged in the fusion of the Design Methods group and the Building Informatics group into the new Design Systems group of the Faculty of Architecture. Here he obtained a post-doc position on research in the utilization of Virtual Reality in architectural design and design methodologies and CAAD in general. Since 2000 he is associate professor in Design Theory and Computer Aided Architectural Design at Eindhoven University of Technology.Henri Achten’s interest lies in the influence of the computer on architectural design, the architectural design process, and design theory. He has published five books and over 50 scientific papers on various applications of computer techniques in architectural design such as Case-Based Reasoning, knowledge modeling, multi-agent systems, Virtual Reality, and innovative CAAD tools. He has also been involved in European research projects on CAAD-education via Internet. An important question that informs his work is the relation between CAAD, design methodology, and the architectural design process. He is much involved in the application of advanced modeling techniques in architectural design projects, as well as the use of Virtual Reality technology in design – in particular through the incorporation of the Eindhoven Desk-Cave in design projects. He has given guest lectures and taught in Helsinki, Liverpool, Atlanta, Prague, and Liberec. Currently he is vice-president of the European foundation of Education and Research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe, and he is editorial board member of the Electronic Journal of Design Computing and the International Journal of Architectural Computing.Tuba KocatürkTuba Kocatürk had received her bachelor and masters degree in architecture and building science from Middle East Technical University in Turkey. She worked as a designer and a construction manager in addition to her teaching and research activities at METU. She has joined the BLOB and Hyperbody research groups in the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) as a PhD researcher and a teaching assistant in 2001, and conducted part of her research as a research fellow at Harvard University, Center for Design Informatics in 2003.Her main research interests are "digital design tools and processes, CAD/CAE/CAM process integration, cognitive Models in digital design education, conceptual design collaboration and information modeling in the context of free-form design and production". She is one of the primary authors of the BLIP database application and is currently collaborating with Ove Arup (Amsterdam) and Oosterhuis-NL (Rotterdam) for the development of a collaborative computer environment as a conceptual design aid.Martijn VeltkampMartijn Veltkamp received his masters-degree in Civil Engineering of Delft University of Technology. His work and research in the Faculty of Architecture of TU Delft is focused on designing structures in contemporary avant-garde architectures. His interest in architecture and skills in construction design come together in the cross-disciplinary approach that, as he says, he considers fruitful in the way he is doing his research. Martijn Veltkamp combines research work at the university in an academic environment with a one-day-a-week appointment as a structural engineer at a design-and-build company specialized in space structures and structural glazing. His doctorate research is oriented at the development of structural components in free form building design. Here, the domain of structural engineering meets those of architecture and manufacturing. Rather than seeing each other’s limitations, he would plea to exploit the opportunities that are well there, and thus bring technology further. In addition to the research work he also teaches master students on this subject, and organizes Blob-related activities.| o workshopu | o lektorech | registrace | program | upřesnění |
